Dragon Con 2018 Results

The Chess Jawa played approximately 160 games spanning 30 hours at DragonCon 2018. He was defeated once, awarding the victor a Double Sun Chess Club patch. This year he raised over $2000 for the 2018 DragonCon charity, Literacy Action, (and you might also have seen his new SandCrawler in the DragonCon parade!) Thanks everyone for great games and the record donations! The Jawa is always happy to see the regulars who come to challenge him every year, and he's looking forward to seeing you next year at DragonCon 2019! Utinni!

CHESS JAWA RETURNS TO DRAGON CON – 6TH STRAIGHT YEAR

The Chess Jawa is returning to Atlanta for his 6th straight appearance at Dragon Con this month. As in past years, the Jawa will play chess to raise money for the Dragon Con charity. The 2018 charity is Literacy Action.
“I am super excited about this year’s Dragon Con,” said the Jawa, “I’m bringing my entire Jawa Horde with me to experience it.” He continued, “I’m really looking forward to playing chess for Literacy Action too. Their educational programs help so many people.”
“Last year I raised almost $1,600, and I hope I can raise even more this year,” said the Jawa. “It’s awesome that Dragon Con matches everyone’s donations.” He added, “Utinni!” Individuals wishing to “Play Chess with a Jawa” should look for the Chess Jawa in the Marriott Atrium Level, near the Starbucks. Everyone who plays gets an “I played Chess with a Jawa” sticker. Anyone who defeats the Chess Jawa receives a Tatooine Planetary Chess Federation Patch.
“I didn’t lose any games last year,” reported the Jawa, “but I had so many good opponents. Terran players are the strongest in the galaxy! I hope everyone stops by for a game, or just to say hi and donate to Literacy Action!”

CHESS JAWA
TO APPEAR AT DRAGON CON – 5TH STRAIGHT YEAR
SEPTEMBER 1-5, 2017,

The Chess Jawa is looking forward to his 5th
straight appearance at Dragon Con this fall.
As in past years, the Jawa will play chess to
raise money for the Dragon Con charity.
The 2017 charity is Special Olympics Georgia.
“I couldn’t miss Dragon Con,”
said the Jawa, “I love seeing my Terran friends, and
there are some great chess players on Earth too.” He added, “I’m also really excited about this
year’s charity. Special Olympics Georgia is a fabulous organization.”
“Last year I raised just over $1,000,” said the Jawa.
“I want to raise $1,500 this year for Special Olympics. I hope everyone stops by for a game, or even
just to donate.” He added, “Utinni!”
Individuals wishing to “Play Chess with a Jawa”
should look for the Chess Jawa in the Marriott Atrium
Level, near the Starbucks. Everyone who
plays gets an “I played Chess with a Jawa”
sticker. Anyone who defeats the Chess Jawa receives a Tatooine Planetary Chess Federation Patch. Kids
who play chess get patches too!
“I did lose one game last year,” admitted the Jawa,
“but I crushed that Ewok.”
