Chess Jawa Returns for Dragon Con 2024

The Chess Jawa will return to Atlanta for Dragon Con 2024, his 12th year playing chess to raise money for the Dragon Con charity. As always, the Jawa will be playing in the Marriott Lobby, near the Starbucks. All challengers are welcome and everyone who plays gets a sticker.
This year's charity is the Arthritis Foundation. "I learned that nearly 60 million adults and hundreds of thousands of kids are living with arthritis," said the Jawa, "and the Arthritis Foundation makes effective treatment available to everyone."
Last year the Jawa raised over $3,200 for the 2023 charity, "My goal is to raise over $3,000 for the Arthritis Foundation too," said the Jawa, "with Dragon Con's generous match, we can really make a difference!"
"Of course, I'm also excited to get some great chess games," added the Jawa, "I played almost 150 games last year. I lost to 2 amazing Terrans, but I did beat Barbie and Jesus." He exclaimed, "Chess at Dragon Con is the best chess in the galaxy!"

This year's charity is CURE Childhood Cancer. "CURE Childhood Cancer is a wonderful organization," said the Jawa, "they fund research on childhood cancers and also support kids with cancer and their families." He added, "I hope to raise over $3,000 for them!"
I"I'm really looking forward to the chess games too this year," said the Jawa. "Last year, I played over 215 games. I even lost 2 of them! Dragon Con provides the best competition in the galaxy."

The Chess Jawa is already back in his home Sandcrawler on Tatooine, but he sends his thanks to everyone who played and donated! The Jawa finished with around 200 games over the weekend, giving away two patches to Terrans who beat him. In the process he raised over $3,091 for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Utinni! He can't wait to see everyone next year!

The Chess Jawa will play chess online to raise money for charity during the Virtual DragonCon 2020 celebration over Labor Day weekend. All challengers are welcome!
"I'll miss seeing everyone in person," said the Jawa, "but I play people all over planet Earth using online platforms, so I'm looking forward to playing during Dragon Con, even if it's virtual." Games will be livestreamed on the Dragon Con Discord.
This year, I'm raising money for Make-a-Wish," he added. The 501st Legion established a Make-A-Wish Endowment Fund in 2016, hoping to raise $501,000 by September 2021. "I'm thrilled to help this amazing organization continue supporting kids with life-threatening medical conditions," said the Jawa.
Donations to Make-A-Wish can be made by PayPal to chessjawa@gmail.com. 100% of donations made during Dragon Con weekend will go to the Make-A-Wish endowment. "My clan has even agreed to match up to $1,000 of donations, so we can really have an impact," exclaimed the Jawa!
